FAQ

Nightline Aachen is a group of student volunteers. We had training in phone conversations but we are no experts or psychologists. We rather offer a talk with someone who can relate to your situation.

Yes, everyone is invited to call, no matter the background.

This is hard to tell because everyone has a different way of talking about their problems and we try to adapt to the caller. We will stay completely non-judgmental. Typically, the caller starts describing the situation and everything else comes automatically. If you are not comfortable with that you can also start talking about something else.

If you ask for professional help we can forward you to appropriate facilities.

No, neither you nor the person on the other end has to say their name. You stay completely anonymous. If it happens by accident we are bound by a duty of confidentiality.

No, we cannot see your number. You stay completely anonymous. The call won't be recorded or taken down. We promise secrecy about everything you say.

We have a German landline number. Please check the costs with your telephone company if you're unsure. We don't earn any money with the calls.

We receive donations and funding as a student initiative and a voluntary association.

If you need someone to listen outside our business hours you can check other Nightlines here: Nightlines in Europe

If we are unavailable during our business hours we probably have another call already. In this case please try again after some time. The line will be free as soon as the previous call is finished.

If you have questions about Nightline and want to learn more about us you can write a mail to aachen@nightlines.eu or get in touch using our contact form.

Please be aware that we do not offer any support services via mail.
